Typical!

I start a blog, then our home internet connection goes up the spout!

Off to a good start I thought, 2 posts, then I've faltered for a bit. Sorry. Long story but basically, we recently changed our broadband package, and it seems our phone line (tin can and bit of string, state-of-the-art for Countesthorpe) is very picky at actually working with higher speeds (1 meg. Though it was always intermittent / rubbish at 512K). They're 'downgrading' me as we speak, but as with all corporate dealings, it is taking ages.

So, when I have reliable and consistent access, frequency of postings will increase! Honest! Of course, may get a chance to do some at work, like now...ahem... but actually busy more often than not. Many things to post too, not least adventures in creating a nursery!

Oh yes, yesterday we 'hit' 28 weeks, which in some books is the start of the third trimester! The final stage! And having just finished my 'blokes' book on the whole thing, I'm getting more and more scared. Plus horror stories from Susan's friends of placentas being left in - NOT HELPING!!!

So why a blog?

Being a computing lecturer, I obviously have to keep on the cutting edge of all new developments, especially on the Internet......ahem.

Nah, just fancied doing one! Myspace is fun to look around but for kids / single people and I've been reading this one for about a year now, someone i vaguely know from Uni, who seems to be living a very exciting life. "But my life is far too dull" I thought, plus general lazyness meant i never started anything. I'm nicking Jonny's book idea though...

Since we found out Susan was pregnant, (August 11th, fact fans, just a few days before we were due to go to the hedonistic paradise of Ibiza! I was sanding down a cupboard door when she came downstairs with the positive test result!), i've again kept meaning to get around to it, prmoising it in e-mails etc but there was always something more important. Plus, probably the worry in the back of mind - still there :( - about what if something went wrong with the pregnancy?

Well, the new year spured me on, plus a work laptop making it much easier to sit in front of the TV and write, so finally time to start.

I don't honestly know how it will end up - will it just be lots of silly pictures and links? Will I find the time to write regularly? Will it be interesting to anyone apart from us? Will it become too personal? I don't know, I guess we'll find out, but i think it's something i'll enjoy doing, it'll be a good record of events and it keeps me off the streets!

Plus in a way, I think it's a nice way of keeping in touch - in a one-sided kinda way. Blogger puts a 'comments' link at the end of each post (see, i'm starting to use all the correct blogging terms) so please feel free to comment! And let me know what you're up to.

More later - on Friday or at the weekend probably (depending if i get our stupidly intermittent home connection sorted out...oh yeah, and my marking...). Going on a college trip tomorrow - to a video games exhibition!

Woohoo!!!

PS - For the sooo out of touch, a blog is a web-log. An online diary basically.

Hello everyone!

Welcome to our blog!

I say our blog, but let's be honest, it's going to be Tim mainly, but when I show Susan around, she may do a few posts - as she gives up work in February, she'll have the time! Happy New Year to you all, fresh start and all that, decided to finally get around to creating that blog i mentioned way back, and hopefully use it properly. Seems pretty straightforward system to use, but bear with me while i get used to it.

Well, that reminds me of a funny cartoon, let's see if i can find it -

Anyway - quite a random start to the blog... probably a good preview of where this will end up going! So, onto the main purpose - to keep everyone informed about us and the pregnancy, plus any old random musings no doubt. I'll finish this first post with a current pic of Susan at about 25 weeks. Best wishes to you all, bookmark me please and let's see where we go with this!

Love Tim and Susan xxx
